MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS:

DANCE STUDIO FOUNDER / DIRECTOR: Kassandra Rateau

Kassandra Rateau is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Boston, obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts Major Concentration Criminal Justice. Kassandra specializes in high energy, Raw Hip-Hop, Step, Afro-Caribbean, and performance skills. Kassandra believes in all of her students and always coaches to build confidence, motivation, endurance, and precision.

HISTORY

In 2016, BCity Reps was created by MTVs Americas Best Dance Crew Contestant Kassandra Rateau. Hip Hop has been cemented in Kassandra’s life since her early childhood years. Born in Boston and raised in Brockton, she first began her leadership dance role in 2000 as co-founder of the Brockton High School Step Squad. In 2004, Kassandra transformed her positive energy and knowledge to the professional ranks by joining the Phunk Phenomenon Dance Company.

After 12years with Phunk Phenomenon, Kassandra decided to share her professional dance background to her community and create BCity Reps Dance Studio. BCity Reps consists of Male and Female talented dancers, ages 4 through adults.

Some of Kassandra’s accomplishments include serving as the dance coach for the Boston Celtics Jr. Dance Team (Lil Phunk), dancing for charitable events, opening for singer Miguel, performing at Boston’s #1 Hip Hop Radio Station’s Jamn 94.5 annual concert, Monster Jam, and many high-profile corporate events.

Over the years, Kassandra has received numerous awards & medals from renown organizations like Hip Hop International Dance Competition and even placed 3rd on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew- Season 6.

HIP HOP: Grace Armstrong

FullSizeR1Grace has been a dancer since the age of three at the Funky Feet School of Dance in Hingham, MA. Growing up, she competed at many dance competitions, conventions, and discovered her love of teaching dance as a volunteer teaching assistant to young students at Funky Feet in her early teen years. Grace has trained in many different styles including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop. In 2018, her sophomore year of high school, she joined the BCity family as a member of the “Varsity Crew” and by her high school senior year of 2020 was named team captain. In the Fall of 2021 Grace will be entering her sophomore year at Stonehill College in Easton, MA where she is currently double majoring in Business and Dance. She is also a proud member of the Stonework’s Dance Company on campus. Grace is looking forward to teaching at BCity this year and sharing her love of dance with her students in the same way that Kassandra has done for her!
